Steven Spielberg to Produce New Transformers Movie
Steven Spielberg is set to serve as the lead executive producer for the upcoming “Transformers 8,” according to recent reports.
The project is a collaborative effort between Paramount and Hasbro. Michael Bay is reportedly eyeing a return to the director’s chair; he previously helmed five installments in the franchise, starting with the original 2007 “Transformers,” which collectively grossed over $4 billion at the global box office.
Insiders have confirmed that Shia LaBeouf will not be appearing in the new installment. The script was penned by Jason Fuchs, known for his work on “It: Welcome to Derry,” and the narrative is slated to take place in the contemporary era.
The franchise continues to expand beyond the main series, following the release of the “Bumblebee” spin-off, “Rise of the Beasts,” and the animated feature “Transformers One.”
Spielberg recently debuted his science-fiction project “The Dish.” His next feature could potentially be a Western.
