Starfield: the game could be an Xbox exclusive, goodbye the PS5?

Announced at E3 2018, Starfield has yet to show off its luster. A priori, the game is off to a good start as a huge space RPG, one of the biggest developed by Bethesda with many, many ambitions. Until now, the targeted platforms have never been really specified: we just suspect that it is planned for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X | S. Well, that was before Microsoft bought the American publisher, and before Jeff Grubb recently released another piece of information that should not be overlooked.

According to the famous VentureBeats journalist, known for his many scoops that have come to light in the past, claims according to his sources that Starfield will not be intended for PlayStation consoles … but only those from Microsoft, namely the PC and the Xbox Series X | S (and possibly the Xbox One, that remains to be seen). Obvious for some, when we know that the buyout of Bethesda was negotiated at 7.5 billion dollars all the same.

However, Remember that Microsoft has let glimpse the possibility, in the future, of releasing Bethesda games on consoles other than its own on a case-by-case basis. Indeed, if the PS5 fleet is much more installed than that of Xbox Series X, there would be a real shortfall in not releasing any game on the Sony machine. On the other hand, such an expensive acquisition must precisely serve Microsoft to impose its exclusivity, in order to achieve an ideal monopoly. We imagine that we will have more information in a very short time, especially during E3 2021 where the Redmond firm will be present. Still according to Jeff Grubb, Starfield would thus be scheduled for 2022… but not before. Let us remain patient, the answers will certainly be coming soon.
