Spider-Noir series canceled after first season

Prime Video has officially opted not to move forward with a second season of its superhero drama Spider-Noir, according to multiple industry reports.

While the specific reasons behind the cancellation remain undisclosed, Deadline reports that both Prime Video and Sony are already shifting their focus toward developing a new superhero project to take its place.

The series featured Nicolas Cage in the lead role, portraying a battle-weary private investigator named Ben Reilly who operates as the sole costumed hero in 1930s New York City.

The ensemble cast included Lamorne Morris, Brendan Gleeson, Jack Huston, and Li Jun Li, among others. The project was spearheaded by showrunners Oren Uziel (22 Jump Street) and Steve Lightfoot (The Punisher).

Despite its cancellation, the show debuted in late May to strong critical acclaim, boasting an impressive 92% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a 72/100 score on Metacritic. Furthermore, Spider-Noir garnered 11 Emmy nominations, standing as the most recognized Prime Video series of the year.
