Space Marine 2 vs. Gears of War: E-Day Graphics and Performance Comparison
Gears of War: E-Day, built on Unreal Engine 5, has been compared to Space Marine 2, which runs on the Swarm engine, putting the graphics, physics, destruction, and performance of both games to the test.
The main advantage of Space Marine 2 is optimization, as the Swarm engine handles scenes featuring dozens and hundreds of enemies on screen with ease. In this regard, the new Gears of War falls short of Saber Interactive’s shooter.
A video from Realistic GameZ also compares textures, environmental interaction, and physics. Gears of War: E-Day delivers a strong showing, although water simulation appears to be better realized in Space Marine 2.
Opinions on which game looks better will likely be divided, as both showcase a high level of graphics on PC and consoles.
At the same time, Gears of War: E-Day is capable of delivering a stable 60 FPS even on the Xbox Series S, which is a notable achievement for an Unreal Engine 5 title. A separate video also demonstrates how much the series’ graphics have improved since Gears 5, a game that still impresses with its visual presentation.
