Are you prepared to navigate the winding roads of The Coyote State? We are delighted to showcase the bespoke Custom Depots awaiting you in the upcoming South Dakota DLC for American Truck Simulator. Join us as we explore the industrial heart of the Mount Rushmore State.

Diverging from standard prefabricated assets, these depots have been meticulously handcrafted by our map design team. By utilizing a diverse array of specialized assets, each location possesses a unique character and authentic atmosphere. Many of these sites are modeled after actual South Dakota landmarks, offering a sense of familiarity to locals and frequent visitors alike.
As you traverse the landscape, the pivotal role of agriculture in South Dakota’s identity becomes immediately apparent. Ranked as the 13th largest agricultural exporter in the nation, the state offers boundless opportunities for haulage. Our team has recreated authentic farmsteads to reflect this vital industry.

A notable addition to these rural landscapes is the Great Plains Shelterbelt. This massive reforestation project, born from the Dust Bowl era of the 1930s, involved planting millions of trees to serve as windbreaks. These “green walls” are essential for preserving topsoil and protecting livestock from the unforgiving prairie winds. With forests accounting for only about 4% of the state’s land, these deliberate lines of timber create a striking visual contrast and serve as a testament to the region’s resilience.

Beyond the sprawling fields, the Black Hills offer a landscape steeped in heritage and natural splendor. Renowned for the historic Gold Rush, thermal springs, and vintage railways, this region provides a stark contrast to the open plains. Here, you will find carefully managed timber operations. Our custom depots in this area capture the essence of sustainable forestry, reflecting the regulated nature of logging within these protected National Forests.

The DLC also delves beneath the surface. In Sioux Falls, players will encounter a quarry uniquely situated amidst urban surroundings. This site extracts metamorphic rock and the signature pink quartzite that has defined much of the city’s architectural style for generations.

No journey through the Great Plains is complete without sighting grain elevators. These towering sentinels of the prairie are critical for the storage and distribution of the region’s harvests. They serve as enduring landmarks on the horizon, and you will undoubtedly find yourself making frequent stops at these industrial giants.

We have much more to reveal as development continues! Stay tuned to our blog for further updates on the South Dakota expansion. If you are eager to start your engines in the Mount Rushmore State, please add South Dakota to your Steam Wishlist. Your enthusiasm drives us forward. Happy trucking!
