South Dakota: Cities No. 2

Our journey across South Dakota continues as we showcase even more destinations arriving with the latest American Truck Simulator expansion. Each city boasts a distinct character and historical significance, meticulously crafted by our design team to ensure an immersive experience. Ready to hit the road? Let’s explore!

South Dakota Cities

Aberdeen

Positioned in the northeastern reaches of the state, Aberdeen serves as a vital industrial and agricultural hub, acting as a primary gateway for truckers headed toward North Dakota. Fondly referred to as the “Hub City,” it remains essential for connecting the rural regions of the area.

Aberdeen

In-game, you’ll find plenty of opportunities to haul agricultural freight, from sprawling farms and equipment scrapyards to a dedicated soybean processing plant. Beyond the industry, keep an eye out for local landmarks like the White House Inn, the Aldersgate Church, and the Brown County Offices. Be sure to fuel up at the local truck stop before you depart!

Watertown

Watertown strikes a perfect balance between industrial output and rural charm. Nestled near the pristine, glacial waters of Pelican Lake—a natural wonder shaped over 20,000 years ago—the city offers a scenic backdrop for your haul. It also honors local legend Terry Redlin, with the Art Centre named in his memory fully recreated in our map.

Watertown

Logistically, Watertown provides a variety of delivery contracts, including ethanol processing, trailer manufacturing, and residential supply depots. As you navigate the streets, you’ll notice a unique urban layout: the original town center features diagonal roads aligned with historic railway routes, which later transitioned into a more traditional grid pattern as the city expanded.

Brookings

As the home of South Dakota State University, Brookings pulses with energy. A standout feature is the 165-foot-tall Coughlin Campanile, a historic chimes tower completed in 1929 that dominates the campus skyline. Nearby, you can visit the Veterans Memorial Park, a beautifully designed space that pays tribute to all branches of the armed forces through its central star motif.

Brookings

For drivers looking for work, Brookings offers diverse contracts involving furniture manufacturing and specialized farm depots. Don’t forget to take a quick breather at Pioneer Park, a local favorite for community gatherings.

Yankton

Known as the “River City,” Yankton maintains a deep connection to the Missouri River. Its most defining landmark is the Meridian Bridge—a historic, double-deck vertical-lift structure built in 1924. Once a crucial transit point for interstate freight, the bridge is now a preserved pedestrian landmark, representing a masterpiece of early engineering.

Yankton

Beyond the riverfront, you’ll find plenty of local character, including a solemn Veterans Memorial and proximity to the beautiful Lewis and Clark Lake. It’s an ideal location for scenic deliveries.

Mitchell

Strategically located along I-90, Mitchell is famous for its one-of-a-kind landmark: the Corn Palace! Featuring intricate murals crafted entirely from regional grains, this quirky attraction is a must-see. We couldn’t resist including such a unique piece of Americana in our map.

Mitchell is a busy hub for heavy industry, featuring grain elevators, trailer production plants, and building material factories. For those on long-haul routes, the area provides excellent truck stop facilities, ensuring you’re ready for the road ahead.
