Some GTA 6 Boxed Download Codes Are Region-Locked
If you are planning to purchase the boxed edition of GTA 6, it is crucial to be aware of a significant caveat: these packages contain only a digital download code rather than a physical disc.
Perhaps even more importantly, these codes are frequently subject to strict regional locking. This means that a code purchased in one country may only be valid within the digital storefront of that specific territory. For instance, physical copies of the PlayStation 5 version of Grand Theft Auto VI sold by UK retailers are geographically restricted; they cannot be redeemed by users in mainland Europe or other international markets.
This policy is designed to curtail the exploitation of regional pricing discrepancies across global markets. Unfortunately, unsuspecting buyers who import these boxes may find themselves with a non-functional code and an expensive paperweight.
Notably, this limitation is exclusive to the PlayStation platform. Xbox Series X/S users remain unaffected, as Microsoft does not enforce similar regional restrictions on game code activation.
