Rising singer-songwriter Sombr served as the musical guest on Saturday Night Live on November 8, 2025, delivering two compelling performances that highlighted the emotional range of his debut record.

The 20-year-old opened the broadcast in a striking red suit and black shirt with a full-band rendition of “12 to 12,” then returned later to play the piano for a heartfelt performance of “Back to Friends.” Both songs appear on his debut album, I Barely Know Her, which reached No. 10 on the Billboard 200 in September 2025.

Sombr—born Shane Boose—writes and produces his own material and has seen a rapid rise this year. I Barely Know Her, released in August 2025, spawned three Billboard Hot 100 entries: “Back to Friends” (peaking at No. 12), “Undressed” (No. 16) and “12 to 12” (No. 41).

He’s also earned industry recognition: Sombr received a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist and recently completed a sold-out, 31-show North American headlining tour. Strong demand led to upgrades at every venue and additional dates in several cities, culminating in a celebratory hometown finale in New York City.

The Nov. 8 episode was hosted for the first time by comedian Nikki Glaser; she is slated to host the Golden Globes on January 11, 2026. Saturday Night Live returns on November 15, 2025, with actor Glen Powell as host and British singer Olivia Dean as the musical guest.
