Sister Regrets Introducing Brother to Red Dead Redemption 2 Due to His Unorthodox Playstyle

Fans of fast-paced shooters do not always follow the story.

Cooperative game sessions do not always provide a good experience. A Red Dead Redemption 2 fan recently decided to introduce her brother to the Rockstar Games title and soon shared her traumatic experience with other members of the project community.

According to a user known as _Imal_, she “regretted” suggesting that her 29-year-old brother play RDR 2 because he is playing the game in a way she did not expect. The gamer simply rushed forward, skipped cutscenes, ignored side content, and passed by random events. After completing several chapters, he could not even name the characters:

[Brother] skips cutscenes, does not stop for random events, does not read Arthur’s journal, and pays no attention to side quests. I was interested to see Arthur with low honor because I only play with high honor myself (knowing my brother, I was sure he would have low honor). We started the fourth chapter, and he does not even know the characters’ names.

While talking with other community members, _Imal_ mentioned that her brother is a Call of Duty fan, and clarified that they get along great despite being “complete opposites”:

I have never recommended any game to my brother because we are opposites in everything (though we get along great). I just hoped he would take a little interest in what captivated me the most—in this case, Red Dead Redemption 2. Along the lines of: “Let’s see why she likes this game.” And since he now lives in another city and we rarely see each other, I hoped that playing RDR 2 together would be a fun activity while he was home on vacation (he plays on my computer).

Other members of the Red Dead Redemption 2 community shared their own playthrough experiences. Some pointed out the slow start of the game and admitted that they also did not read Arthur’s journal. For example, a user named Abim1977, who unlocked all achievements and logged 1,000 hours, shared the opinion that “Rockstar really ruined the game by making it slow and boring at the start” and added that he would not have played through RDR 2 if he did not already know the developer studio.
