Academy Award nominee Patricia Clarkson, acclaimed for her role in Sharp Objects, has officially joined the ensemble of Martin Scorsese’s latest project, the thriller What Happens at Night. The casting news was first revealed by Deadline.
This film marks a reunion for Clarkson and Scorsese, who previously worked together on the psychological thriller Shutter Island. The actress joins a high-profile cast that includes Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence. While rumors have circulated regarding Mads Mikkelsen’s participation, his involvement has not yet been officially confirmed.
The plot follows a married couple journeying to a snow-shrouded European town to finalize an adoption. Their trip takes a surreal turn when they seek refuge in a decaying, semi-abandoned hotel populated by a gallery of eccentric characters. As they interact with the hotel’s strange inhabitants, the couple’s lives and relationship begin to shift in profound and unexpected ways.
Beyond her collaborations with Scorsese, Clarkson is widely recognized for her work in the political drama House of Cards and the Maze Runner film franchise.
