ShadNet will allow PC users to completely bypass PlayStation Network and play PS4 games

The ShadPS4 team reports significant progress.

Developers announced ShadNet, an open infrastructure allowing emulator users to connect and play together. The project has been in development for several months and just entered public testing.

Functionality remains limited for now. Only a score-tracking system works, but the team encourages users to join the testing phase. Registration is open, though a dedicated launcher for the service is not yet available.

ShadNet aims to provide full support for PS4 online modes. This includes multiplayer features for games like Bloodborne. The system intends to mimic how the original console connects to network services.

Sony could eventually demand that the developers stop the project if it affects company revenue. To date, Sony has not issued any requests to shut down ShadPS4.
