September as the Release Month for GTA 6 Is Likely Ruled Out

On the night from Wednesday to Friday, Sony held a State of Play event, showcasing upcoming games for the PS4 and PS5 for nearly an hour. Of course, it wasn’t worth expecting them to show the second trailer for GTA 6. However, we did learn something interesting from the event.

Borderlands 4, developed by Gearbox Software and published by 2K Games, is scheduled for release on September 23, 2025. It’s unlikely that Take-Two would be interested in releasing two major titles at the same time, especially when one of them is so big that it could divert attention from all other projects. Thus, it can be assumed that the release of Grand Theft Auto VI will be later — in October or November. Unless, of course, it is postponed to 2026 instead of this fall.

Additionally, fans of GTA might be interested to know that MindsEye announced last year by Leslie Benzies, former president of Rockstar North and producer of the series, will be available this summer. Besides the two trailers of the futuristic action game, the head of Build a Rocket Boy Games himself was shown (41:09).
