Selena Gomez Comments on Friendship With Demi Lovato in New Interview

Selena Gomez celebrated her friendship with Demi Lovato in an Instagram post on Thursday (Oct. 29) detailing photos from her new Rare Beauty blush collaboration with the Camp Rock alum alongside throwback images.

“Over 25 years of ups and downs in life and friendship and growth, there has always been a constant that has brought me back to you, @ddlovato,” Gomez wrote.

“You were the person who knew the seven-year-old me who just had a dream, and I knew that you had a very big dream, too,” Gomez continued, referencing their early 2000s meeting on Barney & Friends. “I love what we’ve been through. I’m proud of what we’ve been through. Thank you for still being one of the most unbelievably real honest human beings in my life.”

Gomez added, “I love you with all my heart.”

The two Disney Channel alumni starred in the 2009 original movie Princess Protection Program, which inspired the aesthetic of the Rare collaboration, though their friendship experienced turbulence in the 2010s. After growing apart and reconciling multiple times, the performers support each other, and Gomez attended one of Lovato’s It’s Not That Deep Tour shows earlier this year.

For the Rare campaign, Lovato and Gomez filmed a BFF vlog for the first time in about 18 years, recreating their famous “Yo, yo!” opening and answering fan-submitted questions.

Gomez and Lovato also wore tiaras while reviewing past photos of themselves and laughing about moments from their past.

Both artists released albums in 2025. Gomez and her husband, Benny Blanco, reached No. 2 on the Billboard 200 with I Said I Love You First, while Lovato released It’s Not That Deep, which debuted at No. 9 on the U.S. albums chart.

Gomez and Lovato have charted on the Billboard Hot 100 multiple times, including their 2009 collaboration, “One and The Same,” which peaked at No. 82.
