Second Season of “Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End” Gets New Poster and Release Date

Frieren sets out on a new journey in January 2026. The second season will encompass three narrative arcs from the original manga by Kanehito Yamada and Tsukasa Abe.

The second season of the anime Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End is scheduled to premiere on January 16, 2026. Studio Madhouse has confirmed the release date and revealed a new key visual featuring Frieren, Fern, and Stark.

Early reports indicate the new season will adapt the following arcs from the manga: “Continuation of the Northern Journey,” “Divine Uprising,” and “Golden Country.” The “Golden Country” arc is widely anticipated and is expected to act as a bridge to a possible third season.

Madhouse returns as the production studio, although the creative team has undergone changes. Tomoya Kitagawa, who directed several key episodes in the first season, has been promoted to chief director. His predecessor, Keiichiro Saito, has moved into a creative consultant role. The staff has also added new character designers: Takasemaru (Violet Evergarden), Keisuke Kojima (Стометровка), and Yuri Fujinaki, who previously contributed to a single episode of season one.

The anime, adapted from the manga by Kanehito Yamada and Tsukasa Abe, follows an immortal elf who, after the defeat of the Demon King, is confronted by the loss of her comrades and embarks on a journey to reconsider the value of human life.

The first season, which aired in autumn 2024, received strong acclaim from both audiences and critics. The series placed second in the “Anime of the Year” category and earned several other honors, including “Best Adaptation” and “Best Fantasy Setting.”
