Director and producer Sarik Andreasyan has unveiled an ambitious new project: a feature-film adaptation of the classic satirical novel “The Twelve Chairs” by Ilf and Petrov.
The production is currently in its nascent stages, with the creative team focusing on script development and the initial search for lead cast members.
Principal photography is slated to commence in the summer of 2027. Further details regarding the cast and the official release date have yet to be announced.
First published in 1928, “The Twelve Chairs” has seen numerous cinematic interpretations over the decades. The most iconic versions include Leonid Gaidai’s film featuring Archil Gomiashvili as Ostap Bender and Mark Zakharov’s acclaimed four-part television series starring Andrei Mironov.
