Saints Row Prequel Idea: Ghosted
Towards the end of last year, following an in-depth interview, Chris Stockman—the original Design Director for the debut Saints Row—revealed he had reached out to rights holders regarding a potential prequel. This revelation sparked a surge of optimism among the fanbase, who hoped the series might celebrate its 20th anniversary with a high-profile return to its roots.
However, those expectations have been met with a harsh reality. During a recent exchange on Discord, Stockman disclosed that Embracer Group, the current owners of the intellectual property, have effectively ghosted him. According to Stockman, the Saints Row franchise is now effectively dormant, with the parent company showing no inclination to develop further projects within the universe.
Remember when we got excited about the prospect of a Saints Row prequel? Well according to Saints Row 1 Design Director Chris Stockman, Embracer is completely ignoring the idea.

This development likely serves as the final nail in the coffin for the series. Given the lackluster performance of the 2022 reboot and the subsequent lack of official announcements, it appears that one of the few titles once hailed as a legitimate rival to Grand Theft Auto is destined to vanish into obscurity.
