Sabrina Carpenter Playfully “Arrests” Anne Hathaway During Madison Square Garden Opener

Sabrina Carpenter launched the sold-out five-night stretch of her Short n’ Sweet Tour at Madison Square Garden on Sunday, Oct. 26, 2025, and during the opening night she shared a playful moment with Oscar-winning actress Anne Hathaway.
With Hathaway framed on the arena’s jumbotron wearing a black top and navy jeans, Carpenter gushed over the actor’s presence: “It’s a crime to be this gorgeous,” she teased, before asking for her name and admitting she was visibly flustered by the sight of her.
Hathaway leaned into the joke, quipping that she had traveled from Genovia to attend the show — a teasing nod to her Princess Diaries fame — and fan-shot videos of the exchange quickly circulated online. A clip on Instagram captures the lighthearted banter.
Before performing her song “Juno,” Carpenter handed Hathaway a pair of pink toy handcuffs and playfully announced, “This one’s for Anne, everybody,” continuing her tongue-in-cheek tradition of ceremonially “arresting” notable guests — a group she’s fondly dubbed her “Juno” girls.
Hathaway joins a list of stars who have received the mock arrest, including Gigi Hadid, Millie Bobby Brown, Margaret Qualley and Emma Bunton. The Devil Wears Prada star is no stranger to Madison Square Garden, frequently attending Knicks games and other events at the venue.
Carpenter will return to the MSG stage for four more performances as part of the run, including an appearance on Halloween (Oct. 31, 2025) and the tour’s New York finale on Nov. 1, 2025.
