The action-comedy Mayday, starring Ryan Reynolds and Kenneth Branagh, has officially arrived on Apple TV.

Critics have responded with enthusiasm, awarding the film an 80% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a score of 60 out of 100 on Metacritic. Reviewers have praised the film’s sharp humor, its high entertainment value, and the compelling performances delivered by both Reynolds and Branagh.

Set against the tension-filled backdrop of the 1980s Cold War, Mayday follows American pilot Troy Kelly (Reynolds). After his clandestine mission into the Soviet Union goes awry, he finds himself stranded in the Alaskan wilderness. Kelly must then navigate an unlikely escape plan with the help of Ustinov, a former KGB operative played by Branagh.

The film is helmed by directing duo John Francis Daley and Jonathan M. Goldstein, known for their work on Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves. In addition to his starring role, Ryan Reynolds served as a producer on the project.
