The studio Mars Media is actively developing a fresh adaptation of Mikhail Bulgakov’s novella “Heart of a Dog,” according to BK Media.

Ruben Dishdishyan, who worked on “The Master and Margarita,” will serve as producer. The story follows Professor Preobrazhensky, who transplants human organs into a dog. The experiment produces Sharikov, a character who can hardly be called a model citizen.

The best-known screen versions of the story were directed by Alberto Lattuada and Vladimir Bortko. The director and cast of the new version have not yet been revealed.
