Rumors: RDR 2 in the Launch Lineup for Nintendo Switch 2

Rockstar Games has previously released L.A. Noire, GTA: Trilogy — Definitive Edition, and the first Red Dead Redemption on the Nintendo Switch. RDR 2 could have been Rockstar’s fourth game on the console years ago: initial talks about this version reportedly date back to 2019, although substantial reasons to expect a release only appeared in 2023. However, this hasn’t happened yet. Perhaps Nintendo decided that the popular western is more suited to being a launch title for the next console?

Rumors: RDR 2 in the Launch Lineup for Nintendo Switch 2

In any case, certain rumors suggest so. Initially, on Thursday, an EAN (European Article Number) of some potential titles for the new platform was discovered. Two of them are associated with Take-Two (owner of Rockstar), but only one has a listed price — 80 euros! Online speculation suggests that RDR 2 is one of T2’s games for Nintendo Switch 2. The other could be any other “rock-star” project (GTA 5?).

Yesterday, on Friday, the person who leaked information about the PS5 Pro before its official announcement shared details about the Nintendo Switch 2 release. According to them, the next generation hybrid console will be unveiled in a week, on January 17, with sales starting on March 3. Red Dead Redemption 2 will be one of the games available on the new console from launch.

Leak about the Nintendo Switch 2 premiere.

If this is confirmed, it would mean this version of RDR 2 will be released faster than the much-anticipated next-gen patch for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
