Rumor: PlayStation 6 to be Twice as Powerful as PlayStation 5 but Weaker Than Project Helix
However, an insider believes that comparing teraflops directly is somewhat misleading.
According to new information from prominent insider KeplerL2, Sony’s next console, the PlayStation 6, may feature roughly double the raw performance of the PS5. At the same time, the insider notes that comparing the capabilities of the two generations solely by their number of teraflops is incorrect, because the actual difference between the systems in real-world tasks could prove significantly greater.
Specifically, the PS6 will reportedly deliver about a 12-fold increase in ray tracing performance, and artificial intelligence-related computing capabilities could be 50 to 70 times higher than those of the PS5. These metrics, rather than floating-point operations alone, should better reflect the potential capability boost of the new console.

In another post, KeplerL2 claims that the chip designed for the PS6 is capable of delivering around 40 teraflops, whereas the processor for the next-generation Xbox, known by the codename Project Helix, will allegedly reach 56 teraflops.
