Ron Perlman to Play Author Ernest Hemingway
Ron Perlman is set to step into the shoes of iconic author Ernest Hemingway for an upcoming film centered on his tumultuous years in Cuba.
In addition to starring in the lead role, Perlman plans to co-direct the feature alongside Gabriel Beristain, a veteran cinematographer and director known for his work on The Beekeeper and Immortal. According to an interview with Deadline, production is slated to commence between January and February 2027.
The narrative delves into a challenging chapter of Hemingway’s life, capturing his deteriorating mental state and his deepening paranoia regarding potential surveillance by U.S. government agencies. The story unfolds against the backdrop of the Cuban Revolution, tracking the collapse of Fulgencio Batista’s regime and the subsequent rise of Fidel Castro. Years later, declassified files would confirm that Hemingway’s suspicions regarding FBI monitoring were, in fact, well-founded.
