The influential magazine Rolling Stone has published its list of the 20 best films of 2025. Topping the ranking is Paul Thomas Anderson’s Battle After Battle.
Released in September, the film has earned more than $200 million at the box office. Leonardo DiCaprio leads the cast. Loosely inspired by Thomas Pynchon’s novel Vineland, Battle After Battle follows former revolutionary Bob (DiCaprio) as he races to rescue his kidnapped daughter (Chase Infinity) from determined pursuers.
Also featured in the top ten are Hamnet, The Black Suitcase, New Wave, The Method of Exclusion, and Sentimental Value.
