Rockstar Games Reportedly Unhappy with Jason Schreier’s Coverage of GTA 6 Development

While journalist Jason Schreier commands immense respect from readers and peers for his investigative prowess, he remains a polarizing figure within the gaming industry. His reputation as a persistent insider who frequently uncovers sensitive information has made him a thorn in the side of major studios. A recent development involving a GTA 6 developer has once again brought this friction to the surface.

The controversy ignited on X (formerly Twitter) when a popular account shared a post featuring a photo of the journalist with the caption, “Waiting for this man to drop any good news about Grand Theft Auto VI.” The comment section quickly turned tense, with one particularly blunt response stating: “Nah. We don’t want him snooping to our company and project.”

The comment originated from Saikat Koley, a Lead Character Artist at Rockstar India known for his contributions to RDR 2. Shortly after the post gained traction, Koley deleted the remark and subsequently deactivated his social media profile entirely.

While this outburst does not constitute an official corporate stance, it provides a rare, candid glimpse into the prevailing sentiment toward Schreier within Rockstar Games. His track record of preemptively reporting on major reveals—most notably the GTA VI trailer announcement—has caused significant internal frustration. In fact, industry scuttlebutt suggests that the leak so infuriated Rockstar executive Sam Houser that he allegedly contemplated delaying the official unveiling purely to undermine the journalist’s scoop.
