Rockstar Games Reclaims Vice City Trademark Ahead of GTA 6

The GTA 6 pages in digital stores and the official website added a ^TM symbol next to the name Vice City this week. This addition indicates a trademark. The omission was not an oversight. Until Monday, September 21, the trademark was held by another company.

World Wrestling Entertainment registered the trademark on August 4 ahead of the debut of Lola Vice, whose character is heavily inspired by Miami. Just a month later, on September 2, the company filed documents to withdraw the application. No reason was given for the decision.

Rockstar Games has a long history of using the Vice City name that dates back more than 20 years and includes video games such as GTA: Vice City and GTA: Vice City Stories.

The matter could have been resolved through existing business relationships rather than legal threats. Take-Two has connections with the wrestling world because its subsidiary 2K Games publishes the licensed wrestling simulation series. Strauss Zelnick appeared as a playable character in the latest installment.
