Rockstar Games Prepares to Add Text Chat to GTA Online Enhanced on PC
If you are a regular PC player, you have likely grown accustomed to the relentless cycle of updates for the Rockstar Games Launcher. It often leaves one wondering: what exactly requires such constant maintenance?
Industry insider Tex2 recently shed light on the matter, noting that the latest patches contain intriguing clues regarding a long-standing grievance. It appears Rockstar is finally moving to address the glaring omission of text chat in the GTA Online Enhanced edition—a feature that has been notably absent since the platform’s initial debut.
Reports suggest that this functionality is being developed as a universal overlay. Rather than being hardcoded into individual titles, this system is designed to function across Rockstar’s entire multiplayer library, including Red Dead Online, Max Payne 3, and the highly anticipated online experience for GTA 6.
The RGL update from last week did include references towards text chat.
It looks like R* is trying to implement it as an external overlay that can apply to any R* game with multiplayer support, such as GTAV, RDR2, and Max Payne 3. Instead of simply adding it in-game.
