Rockstar and Take-Two: Leading ‘Rock Stars’ Again on the List of Britain’s Wealthiest
In the list of the richest people and families in the UK, compiled by The Times (not to be confused with the American Time), Sam and Dan Houser, co-founders of Rockstar Games, ranked 312th (out of 350) with a net worth of £400 million (over $537 million). This result is the third among the wealthy in the video game industry. The two wealthier are from the mobile gaming sector, particularly the creators of the Candy Crush series.
Compared to last year, the brothers “appreciated” by £50 million and climbed nearly 40 spots from 350th. Over the past five years (since 2020), they’ve gained £100 million.
How did they amass such wealth? According to a six-year-old investigation, the Housers receive royalties from games released by their company, including giants like Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption, and manage to avoid paying taxes.
