Crimson Desert, the ambitious open-world epic from South Korean studio Pearl Abyss, is designed on a massive scale. According to marketing lead Will Powers, critics will receive review copies a full month before the game’s official launch.
During a recent interview at the New Game+ Showcase, he stated:
“I’m granting people an entire month with the game. Please—I honestly think you’re going to need it.”
The primary goal is to ensure reviewers can take their time to explore and evaluate the experience in great detail.
“Firstly, it’s about letting people truly live in the game, and secondly, it’s a recognition of the crowded release calendar. I don’t want anyone feeling forced to rush their assessment.”
Powers emphasized that the world of Pywel is vast and overflowing with secrets; a hurried playthrough would only serve to diminish the intended experience.
Crimson Desert is slated for release on March 19, 2026, across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
