Retroid has revealed the design and display specifications for its upcoming horizontal handheld console, the Pocket Nova.
The console features a matte, translucent shell paired with transparent D-pad and ABXY buttons. The hardware includes symmetrical joysticks with integrated ring lighting and front-facing dual speakers.
The Pocket Nova houses a 4.5-inch AMOLED display with a 1280 x 960 resolution and a 120 Hz refresh rate. This screen is larger than the 3.92-inch OLED panel found on the discontinued Pocket Mini V2, which operated at a 1240 x 1080 resolution and 60 Hz.
Retroid will likely release further technical specifications and additional color options in future updates. Early community feedback suggests the device lacks a glass front panel, a design choice favored by users who dislike the reflective, fingerprint-prone aesthetic of previous glass-covered models.
The Pocket Nova positions itself as a competitive horizontal handheld with a 4:3 aspect ratio screen.
