Resonant Boss Locations and Combat Ability List in Control Resonant
In Control Resonant, Resonants serve as the primary bosses. Overcoming these formidable foes rewards you with powerful new combat abilities. While tracking down every single Resonant isn’t strictly required to beat the campaign, limiting yourself to just a couple of moves will quickly make engagements feel repetitive. Seek them all out to truly master the art of combat.
Read on to discover where to track down each Resonant in Control Resonant and find out which abilities you’ll unlock for your efforts.
[Ed. note: This guide is actively evolving. We will continuously update this walkthrough with the exact coordinates of every remaining Resonant and combat ability shortly.]Resonant Boss Locations and Combat Abilities in Control Resonant
Resonants are scattered across the sprawling expanse of New York City. As the sole operative capable of standing against them, hunting them down falls entirely on your shoulders. Emerging victorious grants you access to potent combat abilities, though you’ll typically need to choose one skill to add to your repertoire at a time.
If you ever regret a decision, simply access the Gap by holding the ‘G’ key on your keyboard or pressing down on the D-pad. Navigate to the mural and consume a reset item to completely clear your skill tree. This gives you the freedom to reallocate your points and experiment with entirely new loadouts.
Below, you’ll find every Resonant discovered so far, along with the distinct combat skills they yield upon defeat.
Downtown — The Artist

- Barrage: Hurl lethal projectiles directly at designated targets, echoing Jesse Faden’s iconic telekinetic combat style from Control.
- Volatile Anomaly: Summon a hovering energy orb that autonomously pelts foes with projectiles. You can also pick up and hurl the orb itself for massive impact damage.
- Shield: Project a protective barrier that drains your power meter to mitigate incoming damage. While active, you can dash directly into enemies to deal offensive impact damage.
Central — The Deserter

Insert power cores to unlock the facility’s heavy doors, then ride the elevator downward. Clear the pulsing red corruption off the ventilation pipes to trigger the encounter. Overcoming this entity grants you two fiery abilities to pick from:
- Ignite: Infuse your melee strikes, Barrage, Shield, and Volatile Anomaly with searing flames — granting them elemental fire damage. Piling enough fire damage onto enemies inflicts the debilitating burn status effect.
- Inferno: Unleash sweeping shockwaves of fire across the battlefield — incinerating targets and rapidly triggering the burn affliction.
West Incursion Zone — The Dancer
Graphic: Johnny Yu/Polygon | Source images: Remedy Entertainment via PolygonThe Dancer resides within the grand Theater Hall of the West Incursion Zone. Before venturing here, ensure you have resolved the spatial fault inside the Parking Garage to acquire the essential Shift traversal ability. Defeating this boss lets you choose between two tactical movement skills:
- Push: Send enemies flying backward with a powerful kinetic shockwave. Utilize this to hurl foes off high ledges or directly into environmental hazards for bonus damage.
- Ground Slam: Execute a devastating downward plunge from midair. While unusable while standing firmly on the ground, initiating this attack from higher elevations exponentially increases its destructive force.
The Park — The Collective
Graphic: Johnny Yu/Polygon | Source images: Remedy Entertainment via PolygonThe Collective lurks behind a heavily overgrown mold gate at the base of the central pit within The Park. To breach the entryway, you must first consume three mold samples hidden throughout the surrounding zone. Step inside, utilizing Reach and Shift to eradicate the writhing tentacles lining the walls before facing the entity. Once subdued, choose one of these bio-organic abilities:
- Spore Burst: Discharge volatile mold projectiles from your palms to steadily build up the infected status effect. Infected targets suffer continuous damage over time and will violently detonate if struck with fire.
- Growth: Cultivate a specialized mold turret that automatically pelts nearby threats with toxic spores, which also accelerates the infected status buildup.
Underpass — The Physicist
Graphic: Johnny Yu/Polygon | Source images: Remedy Entertainment via PolygonThe Underpass Resonant awaits at the pinnacle of the Spike. Leverage your Shift ability to latch onto the crimson-carpeted wall and follow the vertical route upward. Clear out the surrounding hostiles to secure the passage forward, then track down three separate astral keys located to the east, north, and south. Unlock all three barrier doors to gain access to the arena and confront the Physicist.
Upon triumphing over this boss, you can select one of two reality-bending abilities:
- Spike: Summon a volatile Astral Spike—a chaotic singularity of dark energy—to assault enemies. Activating it a second time violently knocks down your designated target. It also builds up the astralized status effect, which amplifies the potency and accumulation rate of other afflictions.
- Astral Rebuke: Fire a targeted tracking spike that lifts opponents high into the air, applying the lifted state while simultaneously building toward the astralized status effect.
