Resident Evil Village: it's a commercial hit in the UK, some interesting figures

Right now, Resident Evil Village is in the news. Not only because he proposes a particularly stimulating adventure but also because one of his bosses obviously poses some copyright problems for a specific artist : apart from that, impossible to deny it, the game is rather a success and besides, the feeling is obvious within the English charts.

A real benchmark when it comes to having a European point of view, the British market has just released some figures on Resident Evil Village. Unfortunately not the precise sales, but some particularly revealing statistics: above all, it is necessary to know that these are only physical sales, the dematerialized sector not being included (and as much to say that this one is very important in 2021).

So, Resident Evil Village emerges as the second biggest launch of the year behind Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury. 49% of gamers bought it on PS5 and 31% on PS4 versus 20% on Xbox consoles. On PlayStation 5, this is the third biggest startup behind Spider-Man Miles Morales and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, both dating to the end of 2020.

Regarding the sales of the week, the game is also performing although it was only released on Friday, with therefore three small days of marketing only: it is, so to speak, the seventh biggest box on PS5. In front of him, Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War, Demon’s Souls, Watch Dogs Legion and Sackboy A Big Adventure. On Xbox Series X and S, the game has accumulated enough sales in the week to make the second best startup in Microsoft machine history, just after a certain Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War.

However, this pretty success is less flashy than that of Resident Evil 2, released in 2019 (25% less sales) and even less than Resident Evil VII, released in 2017 (around 40%). Village is still doing better than the Resident Evil 3 remake with an increase of … 76%. Just that.

Once again, these statistics only concern the physical market: there is no doubt that with the digital world, the figures for Resident Evil Village should swell drastically. By the way, you read our test ?
