The upcoming television adaptation of the classic thriller “Cape Fear” has officially secured a premiere date and unveiled its first promotional images. The highly anticipated series, starring Amy Adams and Javier Bardem, is scheduled to debut on Apple TV+ on June 5.
The narrative follows the life of Tom Bowden (Patrick Wilson), a prominent attorney whose domestic stability is shattered by the reappearance of Max Cady (Bardem). After completing a prison sentence for a violent crime, the vengeful antagonist begins a systematic campaign of terror against Tom and his family, seeking retribution for his past conviction.
The project was developed by showrunner Nick Antosca (“The Act”). This iteration of “Cape Fear” draws inspiration from John D. MacDonald’s 1957 novel “The Executioners,” as well as the landmark cinematic versions directed by J. Lee Thompson in 1962 and Martin Scorsese in 1991. The inaugural season will consist of ten episodes.
