Rebel Ridge Director Jeremy Saulnier Shares First Look at A24’s Slayground

Jeremy Saulnier, the director of the thrillers Green Room and Rebel Ridge, is back in 2027 with a Halloween-set action thriller called Slayground. A24 released the first trailer on Tuesday. It keeps most of the movie‘s mystery intact. Still, we know the story opens with a mass-casualty event at a haunted attraction and turns into a manhunt for the suspected killer.

Saulnier’s other films include Blue Ruin and Hold the Dark. If Slayground follows the same pattern, expect twists, brief moments of shocking and grounded violence, and tightly wound tension.

The film was previously titled October. It feels like it should open this month rather than in the winter. Here is A24’s official synopsis:

Scare-actor “Metal Mike” Graves wakes up in a haunted attraction surrounded by the dead bodies of his co-workers with no memory of how they got there. As a state-wide manhunt closes in, he races to uncover the truth – even if the trail leads straight back to him.

Saulnier wrote and directed Slayground. The cast includes Cory Michael Smith, Chase Sui Wonders, Sophie Wilde, James Badge Dale, Stanley Simons, Stephen Root, Chris Sullivan and Young Mazino. Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross are composing the score.

Slayground arrives in movie theaters on Jan. 29, 2027.
