Radiohead Return to the Stage in Madrid — Full Setlist from Night One

After a seven-year absence from live performance as a band, Radiohead reassembled for a career-spanning show at Madrid’s Movistar Arena on Tuesday evening. The concert marked the first stop of a sold-out 20-date European run, which includes a four-night residency at London’s O2 Arena and further dates in Bologna, Copenhagen and Berlin through November and December.

This was the quintet’s first full-band appearance since the summer of 2018 — their previous onstage reunion took place at Philadelphia’s Wells Fargo Center on August 1, 2018. Drummer Philip Selway has said the members reunited to rehearse “for the hell of it,” and that playing together again helped them reconnect with a shared musical identity that had remained with them throughout the hiatus.

The group stepped back from touring after completing a lengthy world tour in support of 2016’s A Moon Shaped Pool, which became their sixth No. 1 on the U.K. Official Albums Chart and reached No. 3 on the Billboard 200. During the band’s time apart, individual members remained active — notably Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood, who formed The Smile with drummer Tom Skinner and released multiple albums — while archival projects and reissues kept Radiohead-related material in circulation.

Yorke has also spoken candidly about the toll touring took on him personally, and how grief and exhaustion contributed to the decision to pause live activity. With that period of reflection behind them, the band appeared revitalized in Madrid, delivering a 25-song set that drew from across their nine studio albums.

The evening opened with “Let Down” from OK Computer — a track that recently experienced a renewed streaming surge and even reentered the Billboard Hot 100 — and the set mixed large-scale hits like “Karma Police” with deeper cuts, while omitting several of their most ubiquitous singles.
