Quitting Qatab: Turn 4

Those of a delicate disposition might need to skip in the present day’s sixty-second slice of WEGO battle. Bayou Belle, one in all our 5 webfooted troop taxis, is pivoting firstly of a pedal-to-the-metal tactical withdrawal when she’s socked on the proper flank by one thing substantial and energetic. The rushing warhead halts her progress, slays two of her passengers and incapacitates three others.

(Quitting Qatab is an open-to-all game of Combat Mission: Shock Force 2 wherein NATO forces are orchestrated by commenters whereas Qatabi models are laptop managed. Each every day flip covers one minute of motion. For a situation define and summaries of earlier turns, click here)

Is the anti-tankist who dashes previous moments later the architect of this dispiriting growth? It appears not. Ten seconds after the primary affect, a second projectile, arriving from an identical path (the north), finishes her off and reduces Iverson’s squad to a handful of dazed, demoralised headless chickens.

Watching these survivors bail out and try to succeed in cowl is a harrowing expertise. Receiving small arms hearth, plus the odd grenade, from north, east, and west (a number of Qatabi fighters have bypassed the wreck and occupied the home at s39), it’s hardly stunning not one of the Americans get very far.

By T+60 1st Squad consists of only one wounded, doomed (?) Marine clutching a SAW.

While Bayou Belle and her brood are expiring, Willy the Wiesel is backpedaling furiously with a dull machinegunner flopping about in his starboard hatch.  A crimson icon that seems over the balconied home at I70 quickly after the German perishes, suggests the chap pictured above might have finished the deed.

Happily, there may be some excellent news for the beach-bound peacekeepers. Ascending to the third storey of the Hotel Lux, Stone’s sharpshooters reveal two of Pelican Point’s secrets and techniques…

…and spot the supply of the mortar bombs which have began falling at common intervals on the vacant Camp Geiger. The barrage pauses in the direction of the top of the flip when the mortarman, questioning why his loader is taking so lengthy, turns round and will get his reply.

Ample Annie, Swamp Thing, and Daly’s squad additionally do good work slowing and thinning Park Force. Their mixed firepower leaves the patch of scrub south of the row 61 ditch dotted with corpses.

And the enemy bodycount on this space of the map seems to be units to rise. Deathproof de-bogs and InstiGator arrives on the racecourse home within the dying moments of flip#4.

Qatabi models value allowing for throughout flip#5:

AT crew (D65) apparently heading for ditch, noticed by InstiGator

RPGrenadier (r40) pinned by Daly’s squad
