Destruction AllStars, once a flagship multiplayer title for the PlayStation 5, is officially reaching the end of the road. Sony has confirmed that the vehicular combat arena game is sunsetting this autumn, and it has already been pulled from digital storefronts.
PlayStation has begun notifying players via email that Destruction AllStars has been removed from the PlayStation Store, effectively ending new sales and the acquisition of “Destruction Points,” the game’s premium currency. Furthermore, the game’s online multiplayer infrastructure has been permanently taken offline.
Current owners can still access single-player modes for a limited time; however, all server-side support will conclude on November 25 at 11:00 a.m. ET. Following this deadline, while the Arcade Mode challenges may technically remain accessible, Sony notes that overall stability and functionality will likely suffer. Players are encouraged to spend any remaining virtual currency before the November cutoff date.
Developed by Lucid Games and released on February 2, 2021, Destruction AllStars offered a chaotic mix of high-speed demolition derby and agile on-foot traversal. The ability to abandon a wrecked vehicle to hijack an opponent’s car added a layer of frantic strategy that earned the title a solid 8/10 rating upon release. As former editor Jeff Cork noted in his review, the game provided a thrilling, albeit brief, burst of automotive mayhem.
This shutdown highlights a growing trend of live-service titles closing their doors. This year has already seen significant shifts in the gaming landscape, including the end of active support for Destiny 2 and the complete closure of titles such as Spellcasters Chronicles and Highguard.
