PS5: a narrative horror game is on the way by Firesprite, recently acquired by Sony

Acquired by Sony Interactive Entertainment in September 2021, Firesprite is currently working on Horizon VR: Call of the Mountain, the formalization of the title being effective since January 2022. But the British studio has other projects in its pocket, and obviously a AAA is in production as evidenced by a series of job offers posted on their official website. According to the title of the announcement, this is a narrative horror game coming to PS5 and which will use the Unreal Engine 5, the latest state-of-the-art 3D engine from Epic Games. And precisely, to carry out this project, the Firesprite team is looking for a narrative director, capable of setting up the universe and all the narration, with responsibility for the quality of the narrative content. The details of the offer are explained below:

Main responsibilities

Establish and evolve project direction and narrative frameworks.
Maintain the structural quality of the story as well as the overall quality of the writing.
Ensure storytelling/storytelling development operates alongside traditional disciplines as a major department within the development team structure.
Personalize content to maximize storytelling play opportunities.
Conduct project milestone reviews, identifying key iterations to develop world-class storytelling.
Overseeing, planning and growing an exceptional storytelling team
Convincingly present ideas and concepts to the development team and external parties at the executive level.
Contribute to, establish and evolve project franchise plans, working alongside media partners and considering sequel/future content opportunities.

Terms

“Veteran” experience levels in game writing/narrative direction
Encyclopedic knowledge of the techniques and structure of storytelling across different mediums, including interactive and branching fiction
Shipped critically acclaimed games in a narrative director/lead level position
Understanding of how collaboration with traditional game development disciplines can enhance and complement storytelling
