Rapper Pooh Shiesty surrendered in Miami on Tuesday (June 8) on charges of aggravated battery for allegedly firing a gun in a club and injuring a security guard.

According to an arrest report from the Miami-Dade Corrections site, the 21 year-old rapper born Lontrell Denell Williams Jr. was taken into custody this week and charged with a felony count of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon in a case stemming from an alleged shooting that took place at the King of Diamonds strip club over Memorial Day weekend.

According to the Miami-Herald, the arrest warrant claimed that the rapper shot a security guard in the ankle on May 30 at the club and his lawyers arranged for him to surrender in the case on Tuesday. The paper noted that a judge granted him a $10,000 bond, but that the MC will have to remain behind bars until at least Thursday (June 10), when he’s scheduled to appear in court on an an earlier charge from a December shooting in which he was charged with armed robbery, aggravated battery with a weapon, aggravated assault with a firearm and petty theft. He has pleaded not guilty in that case; attorney Bradford Cohen had not responded to a request for comment at press time.

Cohen reportedly said the shooting was a result of an “accidental discharge” at a hearing this week, while the paper reported that prosecutor Ruben Scolavino said the rapper was angry “because the victim was a security guard who told him to put his gun away.” The warrant noted that Shiesty had just performed at the club, after which a security guard escorted him out around 4 a.m. when an “unknown person” knocked some cash out of Pooh’s back pocket and the crowd began to try and pick up the dollars in a frenzy.

At that point, the warrant noted that an angry Shiesty reportedly went back on stage to “see who was grabbing his money.” The guard then noticed that the rapper had a handgun in the waistband of his pants and “told the defendant to hide the firearm and tried to put his hand on [Williams’] hand to prevent him from taking the firearm out from his waistband.”

As he was being led out of the club a second time, Shiesty allegedly took his gun out and fired one shot, which hit the unnamed guard in the ankle.
