Pokémon TCG Pocket to Feature Major Lucario-Focused Update Soon

Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket is set to receive a substantial update on Monday, April 27. The patch introduces “Pulsing Aura,” a new booster expansion focused on Lucario, alongside a completely overhauled mission system and the introduction of premium gold card frames.

This month’s scheduled update carries extra significance. Developers recently announced a shift in the game’s roadmap, including the sunsetting of Dex Missions and Emblem Tickets. These incoming in-game events offer a first look at the new progression systems designed to replace them.

While the “Pulsing Aura” set is headlined by Mega Lucario ex, it also features a suite of high-impact cards. Mega Sceptile ex enters the fray with the “Terminating Tail” ability, a 130-damage strike that leaves foes poisoned. The set also introduces new cards for Emboar, Bewear, and Bisharp, among others, plus “Field Blower”—a tactical item card capable of discarding active Stadiums.

Beyond the new cards, the update enhances customization. Players can now earn gold frames by amassing 10 copies of a specific card or by utilizing the “Obtain Flair” system to trade in duplicates. This progression is retroactive; if your collection already contains 10 copies of a card, your golden version will be unlocked automatically upon the update’s release. Furthermore, these gold-tier cards will be eligible for trading.

The event calendar remains busy with the addition of a Mega Heracross ex challenge. Additionally, the game is launching “Elite Deck Gift Missions,” which allow players to acquire pre-built Mega Charizard Y ex and Moltres ex decks. Another highlight, “Handy Card Collection Missions,” provides a path to earn special Trainer cards, such as May and Cyrus. These extended events are slated to run from late April through late July, offering a longer duration than typical Pokémon TCG Pocket rotations.

Finally, the game will commemorate its 1.5-year anniversary with a milestone celebration, tasking players with clearing exclusive missions and solo battles to unlock specialized accessories and cards, with Zygarde ex serving as the premier reward.

The Pulsing Aura update arrives in Pokémon TCG Pocket on Monday, April 27, at 6 p.m. PDT.
