Microsoft to Release Physical Edition of Forza Horizon 6 for PS5 with a Catch
Forza Horizon 6 will launch on the PS5 on a Blu-ray disc, but physical copy owners will likely still need to download some data from the internet due to the game’s file size.
Forza Horizon 6 will release in digital and physical editions on January 26, though disc owners will have to download extra data online.
Playground Games confirmed the game’s release on Blu-ray. It remains unknown how much of the project will be written to the disc, and it is possible that the disc will only serve as a launch key after the necessary files are downloaded.
Forza Horizon 6 takes up nearly 150 GB on Xbox Series X|S, and the PS5 version will likely require a comparable amount of storage. Meanwhile, a single PS5 Blu-ray disc holds about 100 GB of data. To fit the entire game onto physical media, Microsoft would need to release a two-disc set.

Even so, the boxed edition will allow buyers to put the game on a shelf, resell it, or lend it to friends. The main question concerns long-term game preservation, as a single disc might not be enough to launch the game without downloading additional data.
