P!nk Sweetly Paid Tribute to H.S. Choir Teacher After He Celebrated Her in Song

P!nk

P!nk doesn’t forget where she came from. The singer paid tribute to her Doylestown, Pennsylvania roots on Monday (June 7) in the P!nkest way possible when she shouted out her high school choir teacher, Dr. Joseph. Ohrt, who she noted was constantly telling her, “Alecia, it’s NOT a solo” (P!nk was born Alecia Moore).

The playful jab at Dr. Ohrt included a string of laughing cry emoji and a clip of the Central Bucks High-West School Choir singing an inspiring cover of the star’s 2017 protest song “What About Us.” She was moved by the tribute, writing, “I love this and it brought me to tears!!!!!! You all sound amazing and I’m totally overwhelmed with love.”

In the moving take on the song the masked singers perform it in a classroom and on the school’s campus, jumping with joy and gather around a giant stone on the grounds that is painted pink and features the singer’s stage name. The clip also includes a fleeting glimpse of Moore’s high school yearbook picture and a cameo from Dr. Ohrt directing the choir fronted by two powerhouse sisters singing lead.
