Back in November, PlayStation introduced Ratchet & Clank: Ranger Rumble, an ambitious mobile hero shooter that brings the iconic Insomniac Games series to a new platform. Following a limited soft-launch in select international markets, a fresh official developer blog has surfaced, shedding light on the gameplay mechanics and features arriving with the eventual global release.
Co-developed by Oh Bibi and Insomniac, Ranger Rumble is a free-to-play competitive multiplayer experience crafted specifically for iOS and Android devices. The premise centers on a combat simulation designed by the eccentric Captain Qwark to drill the next generation of Galactic Ranger recruits. The launch roster includes 12 distinct heroes—with plans for expansion post-launch—blending fan-favorite classics with a diverse cast of newcomers, ranging from quirky robots and aliens to multidimensional Lombaxes like the inquisitive reporter, Widget, and the gritty street-tough, Mopz.
The core gameplay loop revolves around high-octane PvP arena skirmishes that integrate dynamic PvE obstacles. Players will utilize the series’ trademark arsenal of absurd, high-tech weaponry to dominate their opponents. At launch, the game is set to feature six distinct modes, including creative takes on the battle royale genre and high-energy, soccer-inspired competitive matches.
