PlayStation Plus and Xbox Game Pass Subscriptions to Increase in Price Today at 14:30

We’ve been scared with all sorts of horrors on Friday the 13th… But the scariest news was about subscription fees for console owners.

In a straightforward announcement, Hideaki Nishino, President and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment, confirmed an increase in PlayStation Plus pricing. This change comes due to the heightened interest in Extra and Premium (Deluxe) tiers. According to the published report, 38% of all prepaid subscribers use the most expensive options. The gaming division of the corporation aims to “increase the value” of the service to justify this price hike, which will affect all countries (Canada faced this in April). How this will be achieved has not been disclosed.

Meanwhile, Microsoft remains silent, but it seems they don’t intend to lag behind competitors. A notification about price increases has been found in the code of the Xbox Cloud Gaming website. There are no details yet, but it’s plausible that this could happen in the near future. The last price increase for Xbox Game Pass was a year ago.

In light of these announcements, it might be worth considering a longer-term renewal, like a year if you regularly use the services provided.
