Announced in May 2019 to everyone’s surprise, the Playdate is a new portable console that aims to offer something different. With its chick yellow which directly catches the eye, its small square format which gives it a super cute look, the machine is also and above all distinguished from the others by this small crank located on its right side. All the interest of the Playdate is based on this accessory which is anything but a gimmick, since each game developed for this console offers gameplay adapted with this crank. Moreover, if some creators are newcomers, others like Keita Takahashi, who we know for the Katamari Damacy series, were immediately seduced by the concept. To be honest with you, it’s been a short week since we received the Playdate, and to date, we are the only ones in France as a media that have this atypical machine. The opportunity therefore to offer you an unboxing in the rules of the art, ours of course, but also to offer you a demonstration of the games that we have also downloaded.
We remind you that the concept of the Playdate is to receive games over the weeks, without any choice, a bit like a surprise package, so that the discovery is total. The machine, sold for $179 (price which includes Season 1 of the 12 games), has been out of stock since its first pre-order in August 2021. The 20,000 copies were indeed sold out in the space of 20 minutes. Come on enough blabla, place to our exclusive video.
