“Pissed off” fan arrested after mailing dying threats to Square Enix

A 40-year-old man has been arrested after threatening to “repeat” a horrific arson assault upon Square Enix.

Kenichi Hiratsuka was detained following an electronic mail despatched to the Japanese writer, Fuji News Network reported (by way of Siliconera). Hiratsuka allegedly threatened a “repeat of Kyoto Animation” upon Square Enix.

35 folks died when Kyoto Animation’s places of work had been focused by an arson assault, one of many deadliest assaults on Japanese soil for the reason that finish of the Second World War. Naturally, authorities have taken the Square menace critically.

Following his arrest, Hiratsuka reportedly advised police that the e-mail was despatched following a heated gaming second. Authorities haven’t disclosed which title riled him up, solely that it was a cell game.

“I was pissed off at losing in a game, so I sent the mail,” he reportedly claimed.

This isn’t even the primary arrest made in opposition to a Square Enix fan this 12 months. Back in March, a 25-year-old fan despatched dying threats to the agency, after spending nearly $2000 looking for (and failing to get) an merchandise in a Gacha game.
