Physical Editions of Red Dead Redemption and Undead Nightmare Coming to Nintendo Switch

In just three weeks, physical editions of Red Dead Redemption are slated to hit retail shelves for both PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2. Fresh reports have emerged, corroborating yesterday’s leak and solidifying the impending launch.

The official street date is locked for May 7. While the updated pricing is set at €35 for both platforms, this still represents a significant €15 saving compared to the digital edition that debuted last December.

Prospective buyers should note that these physical releases are essentially digital-in-a-box products. The packaging will contain only a download code for the base game and the Undead Nightmare expansion—minus any multiplayer components. Disappointingly, there is no cartridge or disc included in the box, despite the game’s file size being well within the storage capabilities of modern physical media.

Given this, collectors might find more value in tracking down the original Nintendo Switch physical release, which includes the game on the cartridge and offers a seamless, no-cost upgrade path to the enhanced version.
