Persona Surpasses Sonic to Become Sega’s Biggest Hit
Persona has outsold Sonic among Sega franchises, with the series moving more than 1.04 million copies compared to 980,000 for the blue hedgehog between April and June 2026.
Sega leadership surely reflects on the acquisition of Atlus in 2013 for approximately $140 million quite often. The Japanese studio has turned into one of the company’s primary assets due to the popularity of its RPGs.
Between April and June 2026, Sega sold over 1.04 million copies of Persona games, marking the highest result among all series and studios in the company’s catalog, including Sonic. Games about the blue hedgehog sold 980,000 copies to take second place.

Ryu Ga Gotoku games, including Like a Dragon and Judgment, took third position with sales exceeding 670,000 copies.
These are Sega’s best results for the first quarter of the current fiscal year. They demonstrate how much Persona has grown since the acquisition of Atlus in 2013, particularly after the release of Persona 5 in 2016.
