Pavel Lungin’s “The Island” to be re-released in theaters

Distribution company K24 has announced the upcoming re-release of the 2006 philosophical masterpiece “The Island.” The award-winning film, directed by Pavel Lungin, is scheduled to return to the big screen on March 19.

The narrative centers on Father Anatoly (Pyotr Mamonov), a monk widely venerated for his ascetic lifestyle and miraculous healing abilities. However, behind his saintly reputation lies a soul tormented by a dark secret—a grave transgression committed during the Second World War that he has struggled to atone for throughout his life.

The film features an ensemble cast including Viktor Sukhorukov, Dmitry Dyuzhev, Nina Usatova, Viktoriya Isakova, and Timofey Tribuntsev.
