Path of Exile 2 Developers Reveal New Skill Tree, Currency, and Unique Item Scaling
Players gain new ways to experiment with character builds.
Path of Exile 2 developers released a trailer detailing features in update 0.5.4. The video highlights a new Atlas passive skill tree for Aldur’s Runes, unique item scaling, and new currency.
Game Director Jonathan Rogers explained that the tree allows players to invest in relic encounters, expeditions, and large expeditions. The tree contains 24 points, including 12 notable skills that introduce new mechanics. One node lets players choose between finding extra relics or increasing the spawn rate of expeditions on maps. Another node allows Farrow to sell a new currency obtainable with Verisium. Players use this currency to modify runes and start encounters with randomized rewards.
Starting in version 0.5.4, unique items will automatically scale their skill levels to match lower-level characters. Players can use these items and their associated skills as soon as they meet the item’s minimum level requirement. Rogers expects this change to enable many new builds during the early game.
Rogers previously discussed a requested feature for Path of Exile 2. Players can now subscribe to builds directly without downloading extra files. This system works for both PC and console players.
