Parasite Mutant Announced — An RPG in the Style of Parasite Eve

Fans of the classic RPG franchise will soon get a modern spiritual successor.

For years, enthusiasts have begged for a Parasite Eve remake. A new project has recently surfaced that strongly evokes the tone and mechanics of that series.

Developer IceSitruuna has unveiled Parasite Mutant — a turn-based role-playing game that incorporates many recognizable elements. Its combat system uses a mechanic called Active Time Chains, which “combines the Active Time Battle system familiar from late-’90s RPGs with a three-segment chaining mechanic. Players must time each segment precisely and decide whether to conserve energy or expend it to execute a chain. As the gauge fills, players need to dodge enemy attacks and strike at the optimal moment.”

Parasite Mutant’s protagonist will face a variety of mutated foes. The game is scheduled to release in 2026 for PC and PlayStation 5.
